It certainly will, but it doesn't meet the requirement of 'low cost'.
The simple fet VCA in "The Art of Electronics" (horowitz and Hill) is
more to the point.
Or, the PAiA hex VCA. (either PAiA or Craig Anderton or both.. cant remember)
