Hi bud!
I bought a non functioning poly6 the the other week. (for 75$!!)
The whole panel was dead, but i located the fault, a connector between two
of the boards had not been completly inserted and also there was some
corrosion to the processor databus by a leaky battery. I inserted the
connector, replaced a damaged ic 31 and repaired a few traces on the PCB
with wires and, volia!, it worked!
The keyboard was bad to, so i unscrewd the long pcb underneath it and
simply removed the little rubber "thingies" and cleaned the contact
surfaces on both the board and the rubber parts with some fine fabric and
no cleaning solution, as i didn't know how alcohol or some other cleaning
liquid would affect the materials. It worked fine!
I can advice you to replace the ram-backup battery before it leaks all over
your processor board and, if possible place the new battery somewhere off
the pcb's.
