Sometimes it helps to use the plumbing analogy to understand how
electrons "flow". If you think of a resistor as a constriction in the
water pipe (or a section of smaller diameter pipe), you can see how the
flow of electrons would be slowed down. If you then place a parallel
section of smaller pipe along side the first, the water (or electrons)
has a second, equivalent path through the system and thus the total
resistance is **halved**.
