Not enough people are chiming in with my point of view.  Actually,
before I make my pitch, I will suggest you simply ask the "they" who
advised you that they would like to see this to explain what they
meant.

For me, midi syncable lfo would mean the lfo period is a multiple of
the midi clock.  Whether it would also be synced to note-on would be a
separate issue.  This is probably easiest with a uP, especially if you
want to modify the phase of the LFO, which you will.  How to tell it
how many clocks make up the LFO period?  I'm thinking the following
for my vortex project mentioned briefly below: a rotary switch to set
the type of note (32nd, 16th, 8th, quarter), another to select how
many notes comprise the cycle, and a switch to engage triplet mode.

I would actually be interested in buying such a midi synced lfo module
if it came with source code.
