Yes i know that one could use a moderate 8 bit MCU to do a
simple speach synth but i would rather design a analogue
formant filter based device or a "at least" a 16 bit DAC
for quality speach synthese.

Just have a look at the simple and elegant analogue OVE (Gunnar fant)
machine and the quality it was capable to produce!
