DIY Plastics, for restoring old synths

Hi Everyone,
I have a couple of questions about plastic molding.
Has anyone copied a plastic piece at home to replace a missing piece?
For example, I have the "loudness" foot slider for my Moog Taurus I, and
I need to make a "filter" foot slider for it. So I thought I would make a
mold
of the one to make another one.

Any thoughts or experiance or help,would be great.
