Minimoog VCA questions

Hi there DIYers.
I'm looking at the schemo from Marjan's site. The envelope is going to the first of the two cascaded VCAs. Is this correct? Wouldn't routing the EG to the second VCA result in less noise? How is a genuine Mini wired?
I suppose the other VCA should have some fixed voltage normalled to it. Otherwise there would be no sound when nothing was plugged to "ext loudness CV", would it?
