If you don't need to perfectly mate two severed surfaces, you can mix into
your epoxy shredded fiberglass cloth. Depending on how stringy you can
tolerate the mix, you'll cut them really short. I found 1/8 inch lengths
pretty good. It makes the epoxy nice and strong. Mix well and minimize the
bubbles. You should experiment first.
It's good for strengthening joints by making a buildup of epoxy around the
joint too.
