resistors: 5% vs 1% etc ?

I was curious about this also. I think I can match resistors to 1/10 %
(haven't tried yet so I'm not sure) I have matched resistors to one percent
for use in a balanced modulator.

Aside from the difference between carbon and metal film. Are 5% resistors
matched to 1% as good as 1% resistors?
