Well.... You may just find out that the overdriven VCA gives the Etherwave
part of its basic sound, which is more grungy and fatter than a pure sinewave
theremin. They were trying to emulate the tonality of the old RCA tube
circuits, and the overdriven VCA might be part of that. You might need to
leave that VCA alone, and build an additional VCA stage for your new
waveforms (an external audio input could also be a useful feature, especially
if the theremin has the CV output mod).
