sh-101 & mcv4

Why does my sh-101 not want to work with my doepfer mcv4?  Does anyone have 
this set up? First there is a constant hum from the sh-101 until i depress a 
key to get a sound, but once i let go of the key the hum is back.  Next the 
sh-101 just does not sound the same when it is being controlled via midi? I 
can't get the octaves to line up so it does not play the highest octaves 
despite my attempts to transpose the octaves. I am controlling the mcv4 with 
a nord lead 2 so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it seeing that 
it is not a true controller keyboard.

    If anyone out there could lend a hand it would be greatly appreciated!!
