Big bad diodes????

Y-ellow Y'all.
Thanks for the many replies. I'll try and return your calls as soon as the
lines are free. :)
In the mean time a little clarification would seem in order.
Whilst I'm still interested in the stun gun idea, mainly because I'm a
nasty person who like to hurt people, this is actually a first stage
attempt to repair a scope.
There is some kind of EHT problem and the diodes are blown. I/we don't know
if the diodes have blown due to normal stress or if there's some other
problem further on. Perhaps with the tube it self. And won't be able to
tell until there's some new diodes.
However, I live in Adelaide, where even 100k .25 watt resistors have been
known to be in short supply. So my chances of acquiring any diodes here are
slim at best. Well once place told me that if we had an account with them
and were buying 50,000 dollars of crap from them, they might be able to get
us a few.
I thought initially we were talking about 300mA diodes but in fact they're
only 3mA. (from what I can tell) The diodes are rated at 20KV but the
voltage present should be about 4500volts. 5KV tops. The actual part number
is a A16YG which apparently doesn't actually exist outside of Japan.
However the nearest equivalent was the BY713.
What I don't know is whether to go for a higher current rated but lower
voltage rated diode or stick with a high voltage 3mA diode. Which thanks to
Paul P, I can get from Melbourne. But it's the only HV diode I can get. And
at a reasonable price. According to Radio Spares, the BY713 isn't made any
more. Though they still have it in their cattledog.
Anyway thanks for that. That's the story. Most appreciated.
Be absolutely Icebox.
