I recently picked up "One Hour" by Cluster and Eno. It was released in
'95. It is very good. A reviewer wrote:
"One Hour is exactly that, one hour of continuous electronic noodling
trimmed from four hours of live improvisations. Like a soundtrack to
some
imaginary movie, the music engenders fantasies of spires rising out of
sight
into wispy clouds and journeys into other such exotic landscapes.
Througout,
the clean, bright tones continue chiming, so don't bother turning up
your bass
knob."
One I can never get enough of is "Durch Die Wuste" by Hans-Joachim
Roedelius. Though this features more tape manipulation than synthesis,
it still has some great achingly beautiful soundscapes and twisted sound
effects. And it will make you wish you had some good old analog delays.
I love the effect of a long echo gradually degrading into noise.
