Maybe..... but, I wish someone with the gear could actually look at the spectrum
of a single struck high note piano wire, because i think the reverse might
be happening.
Because of end effects, where the string resonates a bit LOWER than you wd
think.
Actually, thinking at it, there wd be proportionately MORE end effect on the
fundamental
so the string overtones WOULD be higher!
But, this wd have nothing to do with why you wd stretch tune a piano, rather
the reverse.
