Sony MFD-52W repair help

Anyone have any docs on these drives? I need to know, because I would like
to get a pic chip and set it up as a translator so that the old drives can
be replaced by standard pc drives.
It seems like it would be a pretty straightforward deal, because most drives
have the same input pins (R/W, Track step, Data in, Data out, clock in, etc)
just with different timing (sometimes) and different pinouts.
It seems that these sony drives are notorious for dying and I would like to
know that i have an ace in the hole when I buy old samplers and stuff and
the drives kik off. Im sure quite a few others would be interested in this
type of translator too.
I am hoping to make this thing basically freeware so that other ppl can add
drive definitions to it. I dont want ANYBODY to ever go through that sinking
"dead drive" feeling ever again like I did! ;)

Plus, too, the "drive brokers" or "drive terrorists" charge $300 (!?!?!) for
replacement drives of this sort IF they even HAVE them! Makes me wonder why
they havent done anything like this translator.. I guess its too easy to
replace a surface mount opamp and get $300 bux for doing it..

This is a business I need to get into!!

I have a buddy who does HD info recovery.. His most used tool is a rubber
hammer. He makes about 10 bux a meg for recovery. Doesnt know a lick about
electronics either. The injustice of it all!! ;))
