Hello all,
Heres a funny (or scary) story for everyone.. I recently aquired a K5000s
in mint condition except for one of the keys was dead (ie: no spring
action.., it played but it was just hanging low..) so last night I decided to
get this problem straightened out and started taking the thing apart. I
heard lose bits inside and figured it was the spring or other keyboard bits
floating around waiting to short my new board out. Well, after getting the
back cover off, I realized what it was that was rattling inside there. It
was a link form someones watch band! (And I found a dead ladybug too) Like
on the Synthfool site when Kevin found a pair of pliers inside the Jupiter 8
(I think).. Now, this thing is pretty damn new and showed no signs of anyone
ever being inside it so I assume its from Japan.. The link is stainless
steel and says "Made in China" on it in english. In Japan are watches marked
in english? Imagine what that could have done had it found its way onto the
motherboard... Anyway I got the key fixed and now its mint condition.
Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee........
later,
~Steve M
