Welllll *I* certainly can't.....
unless, of course, there happens to be another 1000Hz note going on at the
same time, which might very well be the case, unless you are just playing a 
monophonic line.
So, like most times, it's depending on what music you are doing.

BTW just bought about 10 years of UK mag Wireless World, 1975-85.
