DAC and real analogue synth ( or beating a dead DAC )

You've all collectively explained why an analogue synth
and an orchestral string section sound so good. After recently
trying to tune a Sequential Pro-One, I came to a conclusion.
Between the DAC error, the reference voltage, and the CEM
error and drift, I split the differences across the range of the instrument.
I became less concerned about minor beating with the oscillators
tuned in unison, and more concerned about "how does it sound?",
when the oscillators are tuned octaves apart ala Wakeman or Styx.
The Korg Mono/Poly uses an R/2R divider, SSM's and tempcos and from
my stability measurements the design and tuning are rock solid
after it warms up. The bottom line, it sounds great.
