slightly OT: gear from ebay

Well, I managed to get involved in this ebay nonsense due to the fact that I
have about 100 megs of Emax II sounds and don't own an emax II any longer,
so I set out to buy another since I sold my akai s2000 due to my
"menu-phobia".
Now, I know that the early emu stuff is all VERY hard to get parts for, esp
floppy disk drives and memory (for emax IIs anyway).
So, now, if someone posted a very short description of the item that left
many things in the air about what would be a fair price ie amount of memory,
whether it worked, whether it could load sounds, etc, and you emailed them
and got no answer in 4 days, would you think it fair to retract your bid if
they would not elaborate via email?
I already have, but I feel a little dubious about it. I really DONT want to
buy it now, esp with some of things the person has done on ebay before, it
seems modus operandi for this person, replete with vague descriptions ala
Clinton as to the condition of items for sale. (What is your meaning of the
word "was"?)
The namecalling this person resorted to when confronted ("hes a deadbeat",
"he would rather complain than take a refund", "this person is stupid")
really made me change my tune.
I can overlook lack of time, but lack of time and namecalling in a public
forum is not too professional.
Anybody else have "weird" dealings with NON-SYNTH ppl on ebay? Any opinions?
Email me in private and let me know what I might have done wrong or right or
could do better and let me know, because ebay is a wretch of a way to buy
gear IMHO..
