Admin inquiry about off-topic messages

Dear all,
Thanks very much to those who responded to my inquiry! I got
more than 30 messages. I'm very happy to report most of the
people who replied thought the off-topicality within reason,
or even fitting their interests. However, some people replied
that they would like less or no OT messages.
Some people suggested clearer labelling of messages in case
of off-topic topics. Fortunately that is already happening,
OT topics are usually labelled "OT". As far as I'm concerned
"digital" diy isn't OT.
The modern mail-readers like Netscape etc enable us today
to very easily sort and delete messages, at least far more
easily than a few years ago. Also the bandwith of communication
connections has increased a lot, I haven't seen a single
complaint about slow phone line and modem connections in
quite some time. So, all in all, OT messages or messages
of little interest are more easily dealt with today.
As I wrote, I'm sort of responsible to keep the topicality of
synth-diy to it's intended purpose, that is why I inquired.
But, I think all is well :-) Do keep in mind that your mail
is distributed to more than 500 people, costing them time
to read and machine resources to distribute.
Many of you expressed a good feeling of "community" on
synth-diy, something that is not often found on similar
lists. I totally agree! I'm very happy this list brings
so much pleasure and info to you (and me).
Cheers,
Rick Jansen
