  Yes.  It won't save patches, of course.

  You can desolder the 3 pins, but it is much easier to just clip it off
the board with wire cutters and remove the leftover pins once the board is
out of the machine.

  In using the lithium battery. you want to replace R91 with a 1N914
facing the opposite direction of D15, and also remove the cap. C40.  Use
this section of the KLM-367 trace map to help in diagnosing damaged
traces, if any.  Also shows R91, C40.
