Tom's $0.02....Isolation x-formers are always a good
idea when working on tube-stuff, tvs/monitors or big-
ass power-amps.
They are expensive! At one point MCM offered a 1.5A
norm 5A max for about $75. Dead Video-game consoles
are a good source for big multi-tap x-formers. The monitor
is usually hooked up to one. I have one on the bench. I can
use to connect 220V stuff to 110V. It was free.

You might want to look into a Variac (autotransformer) too.
They typically allow for 0-130VCA @ 10A. MCM also offers
one of these for about $100
