Audio to CV gate

I've been trying to do the same thing myself, use a combination of analog
modules and digital synths.  I have a Casio CZ-1000 and a strange desire
to add enough things to it to make it into a real synth...  However, the
polyfusion envelope generator on one of the archive sites, I think it's
on the E-music diy archive in the scematics section has a gate output as
well as an envelope.  I was thinking of using this by having the gate
trigger things like an ADSR or LFO and then using the envelope to control
a vca/lfo or some other kind of modulation you want to be velocity based.
