PCB making - an idea

A friend did this some years ago. 
He used a hp plotter - where the paper stayed 
still and the pen did x and y.
Cut the pen open and flushed out all the ink, 
don't know what solvent he used. 
Dried it out and squeezed the juice from a 
sharpie pen into it. I think it worked pretty good, 
but he had to do a lot of touch up with a sharpie.
Sure was fun to watch.
