yep, I think that would work... sounds good in principle - just have to make 
sure the etch resist goes on smoothly and the pen tip is fine enough

have a look at www.oakleyelectronics.com - they are an electronics weird 
stuff + surplus dealer in Australia... recently they had old German made 
printers on sale, along with plans on how to make them into a xy plotter..
