PCB making - an idea

Hi all,

I went about exploring the Easytrax PCB software and I found
that this old program likes plotters. So I got this idea -

would it not be cool to plot the PCB tracks directly on to
the copper of the board? And then just dump it into the
etch and presto? One would have to get an etch resistant pen
for the plotter I suppose, but it shouldn't be impossible...
I mean, this way one can avoid the expenses of an UV illumination
thingy and the hassle of printing, exposing, and all those
chemicals.

Have anyone tried this? Does it sound like a thing to try out?

I myself am just getting into making PCBs and I have found that
the equipment isn't cheap at all. Any suggestions?

thanks,
Hallgeir
