As far as I can tell at least some of the Aries exponential blocks
were based on Terry Michael's design for matched NPN voltage
follower and PNP source along with a Q81 in the epoxy. I have a
bad one here (from a filter module). I replaced it with Terries
design and it worked 100%.

Speaking of Terry Michaels, I read Bernies writings on
exponential converters over and over and never got it
(I was 16) until I read Terries article on them and his
explanation was so much clearer and more understandable.

For years I wondered who the brilliant Terry Mikulic
was. Turns out he lives in my hometown and his 
business is less than a mile from mine. Proving
this is one freaking small world.
