motor spool up time?

[Doctor Eternal]

If I take an electric motor and run it at 440 rpm, how
long on average would it take to get it to ramp up to
880 rpm or down to say, 200 rpm? is there a reliable
way to conrol this? I have an idea for a physical-type
oscillator (probably been tried already by someone,
but not by me). I want to do a psuedo-vocal-chord
thing, controllable via cv or MIDI.
