Yes, a great book in all cases. However, even if I enjoy the vocoder chapter
in it, it will not tell the story about musical oriented vocoders but is really
more oriented to these fellows work, namely compression of speach for expensive
telephone links. There AT&T/Bell labs connection is there.

Anyway, I have had no major reason to get much more DSP books after getting
the holy bible, but the Oppenheim & Schafer book is a very good complement
and covers things in a diffrent way.

Note that for vocoders, I think that LP/HP splitt filters forms a nice
topology.
