Cooling of equipment-fan noise

Hello gang,

I may be missing the point here, as I am a "newbie" to the whole synth world, 
but why not do as the recording studios do?  Put the computers and other 
equipment with fans in a separate cubby hole and extend the control cables.  
That is, a small closet that is soundproofed. 

Please forgive me if this is over-simplistic.  I never cease to be amazed by 
the depth of electronic knowledge displayed by the members of this list, and 
I am glad to be a part of it.  Its just that I am having a hard time 
understanding this current thread.
