Yes, but no.

The idea to collect usefull information for Synth-DIY people is a definit go.
However, I am not sure that a CD-ROM is the best medium. I would rather see
that we make a better effort on the web instead, providing material so that
you can use your HTML browser, get PS and/or PDFs for pretty printout etc.
We can make a tar-ball for people to download if they think that is a usefull
trick. It does not require all material to be available at the same place, so
material may be scattered as suitable for the editors to be able to make easy
updates.

Thus, one have a front page and a number of sub pages which essentially gives
the links to other places.

The good thing about such a solution is that one can update the material and
thus can it be improved as the time of the contributors allow.

I for instance allready have material which after given some attention would
fit in nicely into such a piece of work.

I think there are definitly the knowledge available, question is how much time
people can devote to such a project and over what timespan. There are certainly
a lot of good trails on information floating around on and off list. Trying to
have people contributing something for a CD-ROM is harder since you have the
trouble of when you make the freeze for the CD-ROM. The dynamics of the web and
Internet is better for volontary work since it is easier to make delta
contributions and the turn around efforts to provide it to the user are much
less and much less costly. Volontary web-hacking has problems of it's own and
should not be underestimated either.

I know that I have many things that I would just love to write some "propper"
material on in order to share.

I could offer to host the front pages and bring material in from my own
resources. If others are willing to do such a thing, I can have the front page
set up within no time at all. Please check:
