2SC1000 (Rhythm Ace repair)

Hi....

I've tracked down the fault in my Rhythm Ace to a 2SC1000. My transistor
book says it's a UJT, however the screen print shows an NPN bjt and I can't
see why they'd use a UJT in this circuit. The 2SC1000 is used to mix the
drum sounds, and the only other thing that could be the cause of the fault
is a black round thing about 15mm diameter, but it looks like that may be a
coil used in a filter network. 


Any Ideas??
