Y-ellow Y'all.
	Ok. For some reason today I'm firing on all cylinders so I kinda have what
may be a better and simpler idea here. Not that Dr. E's idea is bad. Oh
contrare. Just that Paul P and I were just discussing another matter and an
interesting artifact came out of the mix as it were.

Why not simply produce a Synth-DIY CD-ROM?

Ok hold on. Don't all shout at once. There's a good idea here somewhere!

Remember Electronotes? The "Bernie" factor and all that. Well we were
postulating how much better the combined knowledge on Synth DIY is as
compared to Electronotes. Wouldn't it be great if you could buy a similar
repository of synth/music electronic information from all of us cheaply and
reliably? Easy to copy and distribute. And without the big copyright issues
that Bernie insists upon because everyone's giving their stuff  away free
on the NET anyway.

As an added incentive, you could give away a bonus or two with the package.
Perhaps A pre-programed el-cheapo micro that suites a number of the project
etc?  Which is what we were talking about doing for TT's book but he
declined for one reason or another. But say, John Blacet's chip for which
he would receive appropriate remuneration out the package. And it would be
a sale he might otherwise not get. 

You basically get your dream synth in a jewel case. And of course the thing
could be updated and added to as required.

See one of the problems with electronotes is that Bernie has to photocopy
each set by hand. Invariably you end up with an incomplete, out of order
set with an index that is next to useless. With a CD-ROM, you can search
through it, even using something simple like windows' search tools and find
what you want pretty easily. Even better with a little HTML and an index.
And of course when you copy a CD, you get the whole thing. As opposed to
the bits Bernie can be bothered dredging up for you at the time.

Of course the devil's in the details but it would be nice to think that our
collective knowledge could go into some kind of repository like this rather
than the attrition of the net take it's toll and it evaporate over time.

Anyway just a thought. I haven't had to wear my asbestos underwear for a
long time but I'm gonna get them out now just in case.
