New idea for PC cooling

Hi DIYers
I had just another idea for cooling a pc on a silent way. How about a
aluflex-tube, often used for air-conditioning systems and so on? They
are somewhat bigger in diameter than the outlet of the PC fan. So you
can take out the fan and connect the aluflex-tube to the outlet and the
install the the fan in an other room, where the tube ends. Or you can
terminate the tube in a small wooden box with the fan in it, for
accoustical isolation.
But in my case, there's not the cooler fan who's making trouble, it's
the harddisk which makes the most noise.
So there's a new question, if there are any possibilities to damp the
noise of the HD.
Does it lower the noise somewhat, if you mount the HD with some rubber
sheet or something similar between the case and the HD?
