Here is the skinny....the JRD13600 from mouser is the one to get.
I have to post this every once in a while or people forget.

If you buy enough they get real cheap I just got  30 @ $0.54ea.
The 13700 and NE5517 work fine for VCA apps. Their buffers
have a lower input impedance than the 13600 causing it not to
work well in filter, oscillator ...ect circuits. The fix for this is (a) use
a fet or opamp follower instead or (b) use a fet or opamp follower
as well as the internal buffer. The third fix is roll your own OTAs.
and forget about the whole mess.... Do you still have a copy of
the discrete OTA somewhere?...I need to find a page to put that
thing on...oh well...later
