thanks to everybody that responded to the question. I will switch it once I get an adapter plug, or maybe wait for my soldering iron and put an american plug on the cable. maybe I'll get a bigger fuse just in case too. all your answers have reassured me, I just didn't want to hurt it somehow. thanks ed
