Ah!

A friend of mine, he admitts he is not very good at electronics, but
he at least have a pretty good hand with a soldering iron and knows
the value of using the right stuff. Anyway, resistors have allways
been somewhat of an annoyance to him since he is partly colorblind, so
in order to read the color rings he uses his Fluke - right, he
MEASURES the resistance. That's default with him.

I thought it was strange that it ran THAT hot, something must have
been seriously wrong, but I could not put my finger on it.

Hmm... this reminds me why I got two bench multimeters...
