I'd use Tubes !!!

seriously I don't know. I havent seen the actual schematic, just Magnus'
ASCII one.  A lot depends on the actual output method. Most "comparators"
have that open collector output stage and I think I'd prefer a totem pole and
the diode steering suggested...
