'bout the only place you can mount one of those things.... there seems to
have been a resurgence (and a welcome one, imo) of effects "separates" in
odd shapes lately- the line6 stuff springs to mind (the delay box is
wonderful, btw), and some of the zoom boxes, and these "kaoss" pads and the
like. I think it forces you to attribute more identity, maybe more
character, to the boxes, rather than bolt them into a rack everytime, plus
it's a reflection of the welcome return of real control surfaces, which we
analogue enthusiasts have caused to happen somehow. and I've always liked
alesis stuff.
