...the venerable SAD 4096 has come back to life -- apparently it takes more
than a blown filter cap in the power supply to defeat this puppy (although
that same cap did take a heavy toll on the rest of the board).

Meanwhile, the couple of folks who posted recently requesting availability
of analog delay chips:
Digikey still has stock on some of the Panasonic chips -- specifically
