zener diode noise generator?

Who was it who was making a noise generator out of a zener diode? Can I
see the schematic. I am trying to get this Buchla 265 noise generator to
work with no luck. I now understand that the Zener makes the noise and
the transistor amplifies it, but now i want to see other diode-based
noise schematics.
