..hmmmmmmmmm!!!!! that explains a lot!

Acually, one thing that is great for DIY is the early generation modem, made
of diecast metal in a box about 5nch by 8nch. These are grear for effect boxes 
with extra knobs and DO have some useful (non SMT) analog chips on board.
