Hi all,
Well with all this interest in SID chips lately, I wondered if I should go
and get my old C64 which is still being stashed on top of a cupboard at my
parent's house and remove this IC. Problem is then what do I do with all the
games and junk that go with it :) Seems that these chips are now in demand
and are pretty rare? Does the Sidstation use new parts, or are they sitting
on an old stockpile of them? Surely the SID chip is not being made anymore?
Actually I'm quite amazed that a product such as the Sidstation has become
available. I never thought that the SID sound was anything particuarly
spectacular on my c64. Maybe I am wrong, I shall have to hear some
Sidstation samples.
In future, when I see a c64 at a carboot sale, I'm grabbing it :)
Oh, as for the datasheet, I do still have my old C64 reference manual
somewhere. I know that this manual will contain a lot of information
regarding each device in the C64 including the SID chip. You get a schematic
in the back, and heaps of technical info on each IC. Get hold of this
manual if you need data on the SID. Surprisingly I still occasionally see
this manual in secondhand bookshops etc.
Anyone know much about the architecture of the Sidstation? I've thought
about building something similar.

Yes, and a quite nice schematic to,
- one 6502 microprocessor to control the SID,
- 64KB ram,
- line output for the audio.
- connector to hookup a midi interface (easy DIY interface)
- video display!!
- keyboard,
- connector for 2 potmeters ( 8 bit resolution ).
Err, you have that already don't you? ;^p
Hint C64 C64 C64....
Theo
BTW the SID is unlikely to survive desoldering.

its seems like a digital chip.....Got Data sheet?
