more amps for ASM-1

I don't really know much about any of these amps...play around with
combinations until it sounds right, I suppose, like you would for a guitar.

Or just build the pad into the output stage of the ASM1...a resistor in
series with the output attenuator (aka voulme knob) should do it...adjust
value to taste, an off-the-top of my noggin guess would tell me to use one
that's 4x the value of the pot...that should knock it's levels down far
enough for most other gear.

If the ASM1 is complete, you can build a pad into one of those giant 1/4"
plugs by adding a couple resistors.

A cheap direct box would only add a cheap, poorly sheilded transformer to
the works.  A good DI would add significant cost!

Again, the meters on the Mackie will be a big assett!

If you want some speaker protection, then a peak limiter might be in order.

(some of us have fuses on the tweeters of our studio monitors, knocking on
wood that we never need 'em!)
