I don't have a modular, but I do play all my synths through standard guitar 
amps. Juno 2 goes through a Crate 40W solid state with two 8 or 10 inch 
celestions in it, and my JP-8000 goes through a Peavey VT60 tube head and a 
huge 3 foot 4x12 cab. (but often through headphones since the parents can't 
stand the noise)

This is definitely not the hi-fi way of doing things...but I'm used to stereo 
systems that I built out of 25 year old AR cabs hauled home from the dump 
with the original ancient speakers in them and a cheesy radio shack mixer 
driving them through an old scott tuner....but sometimes, the nastier it 
sounds the better...I've been known to take old rap records (esp. digital 
underground) and crank up the bass until the words and everything else just 
go away....
