Here is a real simple power supply. The schematic shows + and - 15, but by
using a slightly smaller transformer and 7812 and 7912 regulators, it would be
what you want.

You should, if you can, try to locate some surplus power supplies. Power
One supplies can generally be found at quite a few places that deal in surplus
electronics.
