Signal Presence Detectors?

Obviously we are moving into tthe realm of the ludicrous, 
stupid & excessive (aka audiophile) here, so I propose 
that the whole detection stuff is done in a SEPARATE BOX and the LEDs 
in that box drive an optic fibre bundle that loops back to the main box.
I know this works, I've seen it done, but not in this context.

Dont take this personally Don, I know a man has to eat & the customer 
is always right. Any true audiophile wd be very happy to have a bizarre 
kludge like this to boast about, and it's technically perfect as well.
