Less nasty, but even more entertaining, is the use of Freeze Spray.
Wasp will be struck down in flight, falls at window sill, lies there
apparently dead and covered with a crust of ice.
After some time wasp defrosts and comes back to life. 
Plenty of time to dislocate it out of the house.

Pro's:

* Wasp not wasted
* No glue residue on window
* Ressurection process more entertaining than agony
* surprise factor
