Pots?

This is the method I use, as well.  I mount the pots in a scrap panel and cut 
the shafts with a cutoff wheel mounted in my Dremel tool.  I clamp the shaft 
with locking pliers (Vicegrips) to keep the shaft from spinning, and to act 
like a heat sink.  I've had no problems with pot failures yet...
