I personally use PAIA (www.paia.com) Frac Rac panels and enclosures. They
are 3U high and come in widths of 1.5", 3" and 4.5". Mounting holes are 1.5"
on center. Single panels have a single hole top and bottom on the center
line and double and triple panels each have holes .75" from each edge on top
and bottom

Some people find these panels a little tight, and use the MOTM standard size
(5U tall?) for more real estate.

I originally built my first modular case, but quickly abandoned the idea for
Frac Racs. My original design used stainless steel front panels, but they
were very difficult to work with due to the hardness of the stainless (I used
to work at a sheetmetal shop, so cutting was easy... the drilling was the
hard part!). It looked nice, but it was wreaking havoc on my drill bits
